Adopt-A-HighwayCitizens for a Scenic Wisconsin strongly supports the WisDOT Adopt-A-Highway program. There are about 2,800 groups with thousands of volunteers that pick up trash and other debris along a section of a State Trunk Highway. Groups agree to pickup at least three times a year and follow the basic safety and other standards of the program. The DOT puts up two special Adopt-A-Highway signs along the section each group takes care of. There are 11,753 miles of State Trunk Highway, so there are always plenty of opportunities for other groups! Wisconsin also has five counties with Adopt-A-Highway programs along County Trunk Highways, including Dane County, Manitowoc County, Polk County, Richland County and Washburn County.
